What they don't want you to know!
- Credit cards are designed to keep you in debt!
Ever hear the expression "the house always wins"? The credit card companies make
the minimum payments so very low because the longer you pay the more money they
make. The interest you pay on your credit card is compounded DAILY! That means
every month your interest fees compound and your debt load increases. Credit
cards are a trap the credit card companies never want you to break free from.
- Making minimum payments or paying a few dollars more will not get you out of debt fast enough!
With credit card companies charging interest rates as high as they possibly can (some as high as 32%) it can take you decades to pay down the balance. If you continue to use the card as you make minimum payments it will take you that much longer. Most people are unaware that to effectively start paying down the balance on their credit cards they must pay double or triple the monthly minimum payment required.
- Legalized Loan Sharks!
If you attempt to pay off your credit cards as quickly as possible, remember for every $1,000 you owe you will be paying approximately $4,000 back!
- There is a misconception that as long as you pay your credit cards on time your credit scores are not affected!
Credit card companies consistently drill into their consumers the importance of paying their payments on time in order to maintain their credit scores. While on-time payment history does positively affect your credit rating, they fail to mention that high balance credit cards -- especially those that are near their max-out level -- can negatively affect your score as well. High interest credit card debts can negatively affect your score and cause it to fall monthly, regardless if the minimum monthly payment was made on time.
- Creditors can sell your debt to a third party - anytime!
It is not uncommon for creditors to transfer your debt to an outside agent or third party. If you find yourself in this situation you will quickly come to know the toughest of collection professionals. These outside collection agencies only get paid when they collect the debt they bought for pennies on the dollar from your creditors. Because of this, they practice aggressive tactics which include lies and intimidation to get you into monthly payment plans. They often team up with attorneys who threaten to sue, and non-stop harassment over the phone is a common practice. You will quickly find yourself screening phone calls, changing your phone number numerous times and, in some extreme cases, collection agents showing up at the door. Collection agents have even gone as far as contacting consumers at their jobs!
-
Creditors can raise your interest rates for any reason!
Your credit card company could care less about your reason for making a late payment. If you recently moved to a new billing address, had a medical emergency, the postal service lost your payment in the mail, or you're dealing with a reduction in income or death of a family member -- no matter what the reason, you often find a deaf ear from your creditors.
- The harassing calls from your creditors can STOP!
Credit card companies and collection agencies can be brutal on the phone. Many consumers are intimidated by threats of lawsuits if payments are not made immediately. The truth of the matter is, the calls, the lies and the intimidation can ALL STOP! Our network of attorneys can stop the creditor harassment and bring you back the quality of life you deserve.
- Filing a bankruptcy is NOT the only option!
Many people have reached the point where they feel their only hope towards becoming debt free is through filing a bankruptcy. Bankruptcies are made known to the public and will adversely affect your ability to receive credit. Bankruptcies typically cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in upfront legal fees which most people simply can not afford. The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 was passed by Congress and signed into law by President George W. Bush on April 20, 2005. The Act attempts to make it more difficult for consumers to erase debt by filing a bankruptcy. Through our debt negotiation program consumers can reduce their debt significantly without the public knowledge and shame of filing a bankruptcy.
